TimberTech’s Most Effective Marketing Tool? Our People.

As the Director of Marketing at TimberTech for the past six years, I am often asked what I consider TimberTech’s most effective marketing tool. I have often given the answer of “Plant Tours”. TimberTech invites hundreds of contractors and dealer to our plant each year to talk about our products, operations, installation methods, marketing programs, and much more. If I were to elaborate my answer I would go on to say that it isn’t actually the tour itself but the people that are involved with the tour that make it so successful. I am going to brag a little – we just have really good people that work at TimberTech. In fact, TimberTech is the best place that I have ever worked (and I have been fortunate to work at some pretty cool places.) The people here care about coming into work every day and doing an exceptional job, they care about what is right for the customer, and they care about each other.

When we get our people in the same room with our customers – good things happen. Our customers see just how passionate we are about making high performance decking and we get to see just how important selecting the right product to represent their business is them. And the cool part is – we usually learn as much from them as they do from us. We aren’t afraid to open our doors to our customers, give them access to our management team, and treat them like they deserve to be treated. In return, they help make our business more successful.

During a recent trip to California, one of our customer’s said, “It doesn’t matter about the company specifically; it is the people that make the difference. Through the plant tour and through the support that TimberTech gives me on a daily basis, they have made me feel like part of the family. That makes me want to sell your product.”

Wow. After he said that I wanted to marry him – and then I realized that he isn’t my type and I am already married. But I will say that the “Plant Tours” or should I say the people – left a great impression. Now that is what I consider and effective marketing tool!
